4th Annual Taste Of Belmont

4th Annual Taste Of Belmont North CarolinaPeace, love and rock ‘n’ roll will make for a groovy vibe when the fourth annual Taste of Belmont returns April 25 at Stowe Manor.

Sponsored by the Belmont Rotary Club, the fundraiser benefits the Belmont Historical Society. Tickets are $50 per person.

“We’ve got so much lined up, it’s going to be one of the greatest parties of the year,” says Rebecca Wintsch, who is co-chairing with Tammey Thomas. “We’ll have live entertainment by The Rockafellas, hors d’oeuvres prepared by nine area restaurants, an open bar with beer and wine, a costume contest and a silent auction to add to the fun. All the decor will be based on the 1960s and 1970s. It’s going to be a blast.”

Taste of Belmont started as a centennial Rotary fundraiser to pay for public bathrooms at Stowe Park. Last year’s Roaring ’20s party was the first themed event and drew more than 200 people.

“It was so successful and so many people noted that they really enjoyed dressing up,” says Wintsch. “We knew the Rotarians would dress up, but we didn’t expect about 90 percent of other guests to come in flapper dresses and zoot suits too.”

Organizers chose the 1960s and 1970s for this year’s party because it’s a fun departure and an era that lends itself to many different looks.
