Kathy Harrington Visits Garibaldi Festival

Kathy Harrington North Carolina SenateKathy Harrington, a local resident of Gaston County who is running for the North Carolina Senate this year, was at Belmont’s Garibaldi Festival meeting and talking with local residents about issues and concerns they may have. We had the pleasure to take a few minutes of her time and get to know her and get a better idea of where she stands on issues such as how to bring more jobs to Gaston County by lowering corporate taxes, improving the roadways and infrastructure and creative ways to support our local college system so we can provide a prepared workforce.

She is also for passing the “Taxpayer Protection Act” that limits government spending to population growth plus inflation, expanding the homestead exemption to assist our retirees and to cut the gasoline tax.

Education is high on her list and is looking to establish a vocational/technical/career high school model to help in reducing the state’s 30% drop out rate, introduce tailored ninth grade transition programs for at-risk freshmen that may tend to become frustrated and drop out early and to streamline the school finances so that that more money actually gets to the classroom where it can do the most good.

Kathy was a pleasure to talk with and was very warm, genuine and sincere in her bid to become part of the North Carolina Senate and makes her self available through her cellphone and her website.
